A exceptional single cask whisky from Islay’s Ardbeg distillery. Matured in a first fill Portuguese red wine hogshead for 10 years the quality of this bottling is outstanding. A complex whisky with an abundance of flavours. Powerfully smoky with tropical notes of orange and mango leading to intense spice on the palate. Spiced toffee follows on, that is balanced by sweet and salty popcorn and vanilla notes. As you would expect a long and deeply smoky finish. Just 295 bottles were released of this collectable whisky.

This Islay distillery renowned for it’s peaty whiskies was initially documented way back in 1794. In recent years it’s expressions have won esteemed awards like World’s Best Single Malt and World Whisky of the Year to name just a few. The distillery brought out its peatiest whisky to date in 2009 named Supernova.

Official Tasting Notes
Nose: Intensely sweet, as scents of smoked apricots mingle with hints of pears in syrup, dark chocolate and distant heather smoke. A splash of water brings classic Ardbeg notes of pine, tar, eucalyptus and myrtle, alongside wood sap’s rich, fragrant tones.
Palate: A powerfully smoky mouthfeel leads into tropical notes of orange and mango. Then comes the intense spice of white pepper, liquorice, star anise and cinnamon. Spiced toffee follows on, balanced by sweet and salty popcorn and vanilla marshmallow.
Finish: Long and deeply smoky, as tar and soot give way to medicinal notes and honeyed throat lozenges.
