Crabbie

John Crabbie & Co. was founded in Edinburgh as far back as 1801. The company blended and bottled exceptional quality whisky to be sold across the globe. It is said that John Crabbie had a real passion for Scotch and only the best would do for the Crabbie brand. The latter part of the twentieth century saw the famous Crabbies ginger beer and ginger wine take to the shelves and the whisky all but disappeared. Halewood International took over the brand in 2007 from The Glenmorangie Company. Then in 2018 it was announced whisky would be back in the market once more with a choice of sourced bottling’s. Now the newly built Bonnington Distillery in Leith is owned by John Crabbie & Co. a subsidiary of Halewood Wines & Spirits. Bonnington was built on the site of an old 1700’s distillery unearthed prior to construction starting. Distillation began in March 2020 with the majority of the spirit distilled being unpeated. No expense was spared in the creation of this fantastic state of the art distillery.
