Imperial 35 Year Old Whisky Bourbon Barrel Finish Murray McDavid Aficionado 42.7%
A genuine rarity from a distillery that no longer exists. Imperial closed its doors in 1998, making every bottle from its remaining casks a small piece of whisky history. This particular cask was matured in a ex-bourbon barrel for the full 35 years before bottling in 2025.
This release belongs to Aficionado, Murray McDavid's newer and refined range, built around long matured, carefully chosen single malts drawn from some of Scotland's most respected distilleries. It's a fitting home for a cask like this one, where decades of patient ageing have produced something wonderfully soft and inviting. Expect oily pineapple, stone fruits and salted butter aromas. The palate offers honeyed peach and a whisper of sweet peat, all wrapped in a creamy, gently spiced texture. There's a great balance that only time in a single cask can deliver.
With Imperial silent and stocks finite, bottling's like this one are rare indeed. Bottled at 42.7% abv, this is a scarce dram for collectors and curious drinkers alike.
