Glen Moray is located near Elgin on the banks of the river Lossie and is recognised for its light and sweet distillate. Hannah Whisky Merchants have bottled this limited release for their award winning Lady of the Glen range. Distilled in October 2008 and finished for over one year in a Veneta Botti Amarone wine cask this single malt was then bottled in September 2021. Enjoy this limited edition whisky for its layers of vanilla, cherry and liquorice notes. Bottled at cask strength it is one of just 260 bottles.

Elgin West Brewery was converted into the Glen Moray distillery in 1897. It is situated in the heart of Speyside on the banks of the river Lossie in Elgin, Moray. Most unusually for the time some of the first new-make spirit was filled into wide ranging casks types like ex-sherry and ex-Marsala wine.
New owners, La Martiniquaise bought the distillery in 2008 and have massively increase it’s production capacity. There are now sixteen stainless steel washbacks and nine spirit stills. Sales of Glen Moray have grown greatly too with a report of 1.7 million bottles sold in 2020. As expected the range has also grown with a new release launched every year.
La Martiniquaise also use some of the whisky in their Cutty Sark and Label 5 blended whisky. As well as an extensive core range Glen Moray is also popular with independent bottlers. Not shy of innovation the distillery launched the ‘Curiosity Collection’ in 2018 which looks at how more unique casks can influence the style of it’s single malt.

Official Tasting Notes
Nose - Sweet on the initial nose with the finishing cask showing its qualities. Red berry compote, ground ginger and caramel shortbread with a distinct liquorice note coming to the fore in time.
Palate - A sweet dry balance is offered in the form of oatcakes and strawberry jam. The second sip reveals more in the way of spice notes with baked pears dusted in cinnamon and a buttery oak character.
Finish - Vanilla and a touch of white chocolate before the sweetness fades revealing more oak and even a touch of light smoke. Finally, a baked cinnamon apple pie impression lingers.
