The nose begins as you might expect or hope for this distillery. Lots of hessian, paraffin, putty, cough medicine, waxes, light tarry notes, old rope, canvas and mothballs. Wee hints of balsa wood, carbon paper and treacle on brown toast. With water we find white jelly babies, tramples ferns, moss, watercress, salted peanuts, carbolic soaps, mineral oils and aged Chenin. The palate is full of dry mead, sourdough starter, toasted cereals, glazed garden fruits and liquorice. Also hints of plasticine, tree bark, cider apple and tonic water. Dilution brings out honey cake, gentle medical embrocations, green pepper, waxed jackets, mint leaf, cumin, old herbal liqueurs, bitter lemon, Aperol spritz and black olive bread.
