Glasgow 1770 Passito di Caluso Cask Finish is a limited-edition, peated five-year-old single malt from The Glasgow Distillery’s Small Batch Series, showcasing bold cask innovation and smoky character. Initially matured for three years and eight months in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels, the whisky is then finished for a further 20 months in Italian Passito di Caluso dessert wine hogsheads, imparting layers of honeyed sweetness, dried fruit and coastal savouriness. The nose opens with gentle salinity and drifting smoke, followed by notes of sun-dried hay, polished wood, lemon zest and earthy depth. On the palate, rich honeyed flavours of dried apricot and maritime air are wrapped in soft smoke and a touch of smoked sea salt. The finish is long and warming, with baked banana, candied ginger, lingering waxy notes and a mineralic smoky glow.
