Royal Brackla a Highland distillery is located on the beautiful Cawdor Estate in Nairnshire. The distillery was founded in 1812 by Captain William Fraser of Brackla House on the estate. Twenty one years later the distillery was granted a royal warrant by King William IV and became know as ‘The King’s Own Whisky’. After coming to the throne in 1837 Queen Victoria also renewed the royal warrant.
Current owners, John Dewar & Sons {Bacardi} use much of the whisky produced for blending. It is an important part of the iconic Dewar’s White Label blended whisky.
The character of Royal Brackla can be described as fruity, refreshing and elegant. In the core range you will find three great sherry finished whiskies. The 12 year old finished in oloroso, the 18 year old palo cortado finish and a 20 year old which is finished in PX, oloroso and palo cortado. Royal Brackla as a single malt is also a popular choice with the independent bottlers.
