Glengoyne is a picturesque distillery located just north of Glasgow in the Highland whisky producing region. It was established in 1833 under the name Burnfoot Distilleries by the Edmonstone family. The name of the distillery was then changed to Glenguin then re-named once more to Glengoyne in 1905.
The distillery has a great visitors centre that offers tours and array of different tasting sessions and is geared towards giving a fantastic experience.
Current owners Ian Macleoad Distillers who took over in 2003 have established a great quality brand. Their work with sherry cask maturations has been extremely diligent. The new make spirit made is unpeated and can be matured in ex-sherry casks, bourbon casks and has been matured in Scottish oak too. There have been many interesting limited releases and most notable a 30 and a 50 year old. In 2022 ‘The Spirit of Time’ series was brought out for travel retail. In the core range there’s the 10,12, 18, 21 and 25 year olds.
