Lochlea Ploughing Edition Third Crop is the final release in the Seasonal trilogy, showcasing the distillery’s smokiest whisky to date. Fully matured in Ex-Islay Barrels and aged for an extra year, it delivers fresh green apple, sweet toffee, and signature cereal notes on the nose. The palate balances vibrant fruit with savoury smoke and malted biscuits, leading to a long, lingering finish of coastal sea salt and subtle peat. Bottled at 46% ABV, with natural colour and non-chill filtered, this limited-edition release captures the essence of Lochlea’s working farm and seasonal traditions.

Lochlea is a relatively new Lowland distillery located to the east of Troon in the heart of Ayrshire. The site is both a distillery and a farm and is independently owned by Neil McGeoch. During the late 1700’s the famous poet Robert Burns lived and worked at the farm. The distillery was founded in 2018 and its inaugural whisky launch was in January 2021. After this launch the distillery recruited a team with great industry knowledge. Former distillery manager at Laphroaig John Campbell became production director and master blender towards the end of 2021.
Barley grown on Lochlea Farm is used in the production of all the whisky. There are two stills that run at a steady pace to allow more copper contact. The new make spirit has a fruity and nutty flavour profile. The final style has more body than is typical of Lowland whiskies. There is currently one core expression named Lochlea ‘Our Barley’ which is matured in a combination of first fill bourbon, Oloroso and STR casks. This is available a long with the limited edition seasonal single malts. The first batch of Lochea ‘Cask Strength’ has also been released.
