Ardnamurchan continues to prove why it’s one of Scotland’s most exciting modern distilleries. This Heritage Barley Release, made with unpeated Golden Promise barley, highlights the distillery’s commitment to flavour and traditional raw materials. Distilled in 2018 and bottled in 2025 from bourbon barrels, this release is bottled at a bold 59.2% abv.
Expect aromas of milk chocolate buscuits, lime cordial, apricot jam and a whiff of long grass. The palate reveals a great oily mouth feel with a gentle creamy sweetness. There’s a nuttiness too with flavours akin to sugared almonds, salted cashews and subtle pistachios. The oily mouthfeel is echoed in the well balanced finish along with traces of soft orchard fruit, a sweet nuttiness and a sip of espresso.
Like all their whiskies this release is un-chill filtered and has natural colour.

Ardnamurchan Distillery, established in 2014 by Adelphi Distillery Limited, is located on the picturesque Ardnamurchan Peninsula in the western Highlands of Scotland. The distillery is known for its commitment to sustainability and traditional whisky-making practices. Designed to harmonize with its rugged surroundings, the distillery uses local materials in its construction and incorporates renewable energy sources like hydroelectric power and a biomass boiler. This eco-friendly approach extends to their production process, where they craft both peated and unpeated single malt Scotch whisky using traditional copper pot stills and wooden washbacks, with water sourced from a local spring.
The whisky produced by Ardnamurchan Distillery is matured in a variety of casks, including ex-bourbon and ex-sherry, resulting in a diverse range of flavors and complexities. Visitors to the distillery can enjoy guided tours that offer a comprehensive look at the whisky-making process and tastings of their unique expressions. Ardnamurchan Distillery not only focuses on producing high-quality whisky but also on supporting the local community and engaging in environmental initiatives. This blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern sustainability practices, set against the backdrop of one of Scotland's most beautiful landscapes, makes Ardnamurchan Distillery a noteworthy destination for whisky enthusiasts.
