Ruadh Maor, Gaelic for 'Big Red’ is the name Glenturret has reserved for its rare, heavily peated spirit. Distilled in 2011 and bottled in 2026, this 14 year old was matured in a single refill Marsala barrique. 

Bottled at a robust cask strength of 57.3% abv, non-chill filtered and no added colour, this is a whisky in is most untouched and natural form. With only an outturn of 304 bottles and the fact that Glenturret has phased out peated production altogether, this whisky is a compelling buy. An outstanding single cask release for anyone that appreciates smoky Highland whisky from one of Scotland’s oldest distilleries.

Nose: The nose has cigars, peat-smoked chocolate raisins, coal bunkers, grilled pears, BBQ’d meat with burnt lemons and herbs and a pinch of garam masala.

Palate: The palate has fantastic big, chunky, herbal smoke, with coal tar, sticky hoisin sauce, black cardomom and oranges. The body is huge, and develops on smoky caramel, BBQ sauce and salt & pepper ribs.
