Cragganmore Distillery

Cragganmore is a Speyside distillery in a picturesque location a short distance from the river Spey
in Ballindalloch. John Smith founded the distillery in 1869 and his brother took over after his death in 1886. Cragganmore remained under family ownership for over fifty years from first built up until 1923 when it was sold to Cragganmore-Glenlivet Distillery Co. Today the distillery is owned by the whisky industry’s giant Diageo who produce over one hundred different Scotch brands.
Interestingly the distilleries two spirit stills have unusual flat tops that were part of the original design when the distillery was first opened. It is reported these stills add a distinctive style to the new make spirit. Much of the whisky produced is used in blends and you can also find an official core range. Included is this range is a 12 year old and a Distiller’s Edition. There have been other exciting releases, most recently including a 48 year old Prima & Ultima.
