The Glenallachie 2012 Vintage Cuvée Wine Cask Finish is an exceptional limited edition whisky. Distilled in 2012 and matured in ex-bourbon casks before moving to four different premium European red wine barriques from Recite Della Valpolicella, Languedoc and two Premier Cru Classés. These four casks were expertly chosen by renowned Master Distiller, Billy Walker. The character development of each individual cask was carefully monitored before skilfully blending the whiskies together to create the Cuvée Cask Finish. Orange blossom, espresso and honeysuckle fill the nose followed by waves of dark chocolate, redcurrants, burnt coffee beans, blackberries and orange zest on the palate.

GlenAllachie is located near Aberlour in the Speyside whisky producing region. It is a relatively new distillery founded in 1967 by Mackinlay, McPherson & Co. It was designed by the architect William Delme Evans and the structure is both modern and aesthetically pleasing. In 2017 the distillery was sold to The GlenAllachie Consortium and at its helm is the famous master blender Billy Walker. The spirit resting in the warehouses has been transformed into some great quality releases. Billy Walker repeatedly assesses the ageing whisky and re-racks it into new quality casks to add more layers of flavour. Fermentations are lengthy at GlenAllachie and a minimal amount of the spirit made is heavily peated. In 2018 a core range was released consisting of 12, 18 and 25 year olds. There have also been additions to this range of a 21 year old cask strength matured in PX casks. Plus theres a 30 year old cask strength from PX, oloroso and chinquapin virgin oak

Official Tasting Notes
Aroma: Bursting with orange blossom, espresso, maraschino cherries and honeysuckle, with hints of candied stone fruits, hazelnuts, lavender and cinnamon.
Palate: Waves of dark chocolate, redcurrants and burnt coffee beans, followed by crystalised almonds, blackberries and orange zest.
Finish: Ginger and liquorice on the finish.
