A truly stunning 1982 Glenlossie 40 year old from Gordon & MacPhail bottled for their prestigious Private Collection range. Releases from this range are specifically chosen by the directors, including third and fourth generations of the Urquhart family, using expertise in spirit selection and cask maturation passed down through the years. These casks are bottled to showcase their extreme quality and personality.
Filled in October 1982 and matured for 40 years in a single refill American hogshead cask number #3398. This outstanding single malt was then bottled a robust natural cask strength of 60.2% abv in November 2022. A rare collectable whisky which is one of only 125 bottles.

Glenlossie in the Speyside region is located just south of Elgin in Morayshire. It was founded in 1876 by John Duff, who previously managed Glendronach. Distillers Company Limited {DCL} took possession of the distillery in 1919 and after its amalgamation Glenlossie is now owned by Diageo. The whisky produced is mainly used in their blended portfolio most notably Haig Gold Label. The malt produced at Glenlossie is distilled in exactly the same way to ensure consistency of flavour for Haig. The characteristic of the new make spirit is both grassy and oily due to the long fermentation times and purifiers on the stills. There have been very few official bottling released and the only one at present is the Flora & Fauna 10 year old. If you looking for a Glenlossie single malt whisky then the independent bottlers offer a good variety. Official Tasting Notes
Aroma Rich orange zest aromas give way to green apple and a hint of grapefruit. Ripe Autumnal fruits come the fore alongside subtle aged leather.
Taste Smooth and sweet with apricot flavours giving way to soft citrus zest. Subtle tropical fruits lead to mature oak.
Finish A medium-bodied finish with lingering mixed nuts.
