Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky Distillery Bottling
The Lagavulin 2005 Distillers Edition Excellent single malt from Islay's Lagavulin Distillery, which has enjoyed a finishing period in Pedro Ximénez casks. The whisky was distilled back in 2005, and eventually bottled up in 2020 as part of the long-running Distillers Edition series. The intense peaty wafts pair well with the Pedro Ximénez sweetness, making for a delicious, flavoursome, and thoroughly distinctive dram.

Distillery Profile
In 1742 there were at least ten illicit stills at Lagavulin, and it would be another 74 years until local farmer John Johnston founded the first legal distillery, in sight of Dunyvaig Castle. Its name may have changed over the years, but the quiet power of peat and smoke that pervades this masculine malt has not. The definitive Islay malt—intensely flavoured, smoky and rich. The windswept Isle of Islay instils a strength of character into everything it produces and its here, nestled in a small bay that our beloved Lagavulin whisky has been made for over 200 years.

NOSE - Salted caramel and dark chocolate, smoked almonds and stewed plums.
PALATE - Prunes, sultanas and peat smoke. Oak spice, toasty oak dark cherries.
FINISH - More dark chocolate and bonfire smoke.
