Mortlach 10 Year Old Refill Hogshead Woodrow's 59.5%
A single cask Mortlach 10 year old by independent bottler Woodrow’s of Edinburgh. Distilled in December 2013 and matured in a refill hogshead before being bottled in May 2024 at a cask strength of 59.5% abv. Aromas of dark chocolate and salted caramel are complimented by earthy truffle, walnut, vanilla, crème brûlée and saline undertones. There's a spicy finish with ginger, cloves and a lingering saltiness.

Founded in 1823 by James Findlater, Mortlach was the first legal distillery to be constructed in Dufftown. Dufftown is now the home of many other distilleries in the Speyside whisky region. For a period the distillery was also used as a brewery and a church. Current owners Diageo use much of the whisky produced in the Johnnie Walker bottling's. There is also an official core range of four single malts introduced in 2018. Since its release the new brand has proven popular and sales are reported to be very healthy. Other recent expressions of note are- The oldest official Mortlach bottling, a 47 year old as part of the Special Releases range. Plus a 25 year old Prima & Ultima swiftly followed by a Rare by Nature 21 year old. Mortlach is well know for being popular with the independent bottlers and it’s quality really shines when matched with ex-sherry casks.

Nose: Dark chocolate, hazelnuts and salted caramel
Palate: An oily mouthfeel with an earthy truffle and walnuts balanced with sweet vanilla, crème brûlée and saline undertones
Finish: Spicy ginger, cloves and a lingering saltiness
