A rare, exceptional 35 year old Strathisla Speyside single malt whisky. Distilled and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail for the Private Collection series. This 1985 vintage Strathisla was distilled Friday 14th June 1985 and matured in a refill bourbon barrel, #1482 for 35 years before being bottled Tuesday 27th April 2021. A rare single cask whisky that yielded a release of just 104 hand-blown crystal decanters.

The picturesque Strathisla distillery is located in the Speyside region in the town of Keith in Banffshire. Strathisla is the earliest working distillery in the Scottish Highlands with a history reaching back to the 1700s. It is owned by Chivas Brothers (Pernod Ricard) who made the purchase in 1950 and a great deal of restoration was carried out. The name Strathisla was first used in 1870. It was given up in 1890 but Chivas Brothers re-adopted it following their acquisition of the distillery.
Strathisla is considered to be the backbone and a crucial malt in the popular Chivas Regal blend. The official Strathisla single malt whisky bottling is the 12 year old plus 2019 saw the release of the Distillery Reserve Collection. Independent bottlers Gordon & MacPhail have used Strathisla new make spirit for their own maturations for many years. In their ‘Distillery Labels’ range Strathisla is a well know key release.

Official Tasting Notes
Nose: Ripe red apple aromas combine with butterscotch and Seville orange peel. Subtle dried tobacco notes come to the fore alongside banana and a hint of white chocolate.
Palate: Flavours of vibrant citrus zest give way to rich vanilla pod, balanced by mature oak. Cocoa powder comes to the fore accompanied by demerara sugar and tropical fruit.
Finish: A medium-bodied finish of lingering lemon peel and subtle white pepper.
