About Benrinnes Whisky
This Speyside distillery was founded back in 1826 at Whitehouse Farm by Peter McKenzie. It’s fair to say in the early years the distillery suffered a fair few setbacks which included a flood a couple of bankruptcies and a fire. In 1864 David Edward bought the distillery and his son Alexander Edward took over in 1896 after the for-mentioned fire. Alexander was a fantastic entrepreneur and founded three other Speyside distilleries around the same time. After taking over Benrinnes he also took over Oban distillery in I898 plus Yoker distillery 15 years later. The distillery is now owned by Diageo and recently in 2012 large improvements were made. It offers one single malt which is the Flora & Fauna 15 Year Old which has a lovely full bodied rich taste. The majority of the whisky produced is used in blends for the well know Jonnie Walker, J&B and Crawford’s 3 star.
