This 2022 Longrow Red release from the Springbank distillery is the heavily peated annual release form their Red Series. Each year different types of red wine casks are used to matured the whisky. Matured for 7 years in ex-bourbon barrels followed by 4 years in fresh tawny port barrels this Longrown Red is a fantastic limited edition whisky. Only 8400 bottles released.

Longrow is one of three individual style single malts made at the Springbank distillery on the Kintyre Peninsula in the Campbeltown region. Longrow is distilled twice and is peaty with phenol levels being between 50-55 ppm. This whisky takes its name from the closed distillery next door to Springbank. The warehouse of this former distillery is currently used as a bottling hall for the Springbank distillery. Initially the heavy, oily and peaty style was being used in the formation of a blended whisky. Now the Longrow brand is a well know addition to the Springbank portfolio. The Longrow range consists of none age statement, 18 and a 21 year old. There is also the Longrow Red which is a yearly limited release. The Longrow Red is bottled at cask strength and every year a different type of red wine cask is used to age the whisky. In 2022 there were numerous single casks of Longrow released to market.

Official Tasting Notes
Nose: Notes of redcurrants, blackberries and red cola, along with a damp, musty element, provide an inviting introduction to this dram.
Taste: The sweet, fruity influence comes through in notes of red fruits, honey glaze and brandy baskets nicely balanced with smoky notes of barbecued meats.
Finish: The peat builds in the finish and a salty, nutty note develops. Notes of rhubarb custard and roasted almonds round off this dram.
