About Glenburgie Whisky
Glenburgie is a Speyside distillery that is situated on the outskirts of Forres in Morayshire. Originally know as Kilnflat distillery, by its founder William Paul-official production commenced in 1829.
The distillery is currently owned by Chivas Brothers {Pernod Richard} who use the stills for Chivas blends. Only a very small part of the production is reserved for official bottlings. Glenburgie single malt is a key component in Ballantine’s blended whisky which is the second biggest selling Scottish blend in the world after Jonnie Walker.
In 2004 an expensive reconstruction of the distillery commenced to create a more modern operation. There are twelve wash backs, the three pairs of stills have straight lyne arms and the capacity is four million two hundred and fifty thousand litres.
The distillery is not open to the public but you can find two official single malt whiskies which are the 15 and 18 year olds that are aged in ex-bourbon casks. Glenburgie is also popular with the independent bottlers.
