A great fruity, floral and complex Balblair from esteemed indie bottler Chorlton Whisky.
This Highlander was aged for 16 years in a single hogshead before bottling at a cask strength of 55.8% abv. Balblair’s signature fresh, fruity style is displayed beautifully here.
The palate is described by Chorlton Whisky as ‘chewy and dense, while somehow also light and lively.’ There’s notes of oranges and limes, blackberry pie with cinnamon and brown sugar to enjoy.
The cask produced just 271 bottles.

Nose:The nose is enticing and a little idiosyncratic, with honey, dessert wines, rose petals, blackcurrant branches and fruit cordials.
Palate: Taste-wise I find cherries, Gewürztraminer, oranges and limes, and a blackberry pie with cinnamon and brown sugar. A drop of water has green apple sweets and citrus popping out.

The Balblair distillery in the northern Highlands was established by James McKeddy in 1790 then John Ross took over that same year. Now owned by Inver House Distillers there is a quality core range of age statement whiskies to enjoy plus many independent bottling’s too. The distillery appeared in the popular Ken Loach film “The Angles Share”.
