About Tobermory Whisky
Tobermory distillery is situated in the vibrant heart of the main town of Tobermory on the Inner Hebridean island of Mull. It is a distillery that has a long history dating back to 1798 when it was founded by John Sinclair. The Great Depression in the 1930’s saw demand for its whisky fall dramatically leading to a forty year closure. When the distillery reopened its name interchanged between Ledaig and Tobermory. Interestingly the land leased to build the distillery was know as Ledaig, its name deriving from there. The distillery has undergone a fantastic refurbishment by its new owners Distell who produce single malt under the Tobermory distillery name. Ledaig single malt showcases their distinct popular peated style releases. In 2021 ‘The Hebridean’ was introduced which was the start of an exciting limited series. The first in this series was a 23 year old with an 8 years finish in oloroso casks.
