Dailuanie is a Speyside region distillery that is owned by whisky industry giant’s Diageo. The distillery was founded in 1852 by William Mackenzie. It is situated just outside Carron in the lovely Spey valley. Speyside attracts many tourists not only the natural beauty of the region but also the substantial number of distilleries in the vicinity. Although no visitors are currently allowed at the site you can still see the distillery buildings from the local Balliemullich Burn nearby.
Towards the end of the nineteenth century Dailuiane was notably the first to build a pagoda on the kiln. This was in order to reduce the exposure between the peat smoke and the barley laid out for drying. Dialuaine's predominant aim is to produce whisky for blending but there are also independent bottling’s for sale. The official single malt release is the 16 year old Flora & Fauna that was launched in 1991. There have been a few other releases one of which was a 34 year old offered up as part of Diageo's Special Releases.
