The Glenlivet distillery is located near to Ballindalloch in the Speyside region of Scotland and is owned by Chivas Brothers (Pernod Ricard). The distillery is supported by a long history of whisky production. It is an iconic brand and much sought after worldwide. Historically it stood apart for the uniqueness of its light and fresh flavour at a time when heavier style whiskies commanded the trade. The distillery's capacity has been expanded in recent times and now stands at large 21 million litres. July 2021 saw the opening of a beautifully refurbished visitor centre. In the core range there is the Founder's Reserve, Captain’s Reserve finished in cognac casks and Caribbean Reserve finished in rum casks. Also there are a 12 year old and 15 year old French Oak Reserve plus an 18 year old. Most recently in 2022 two new whiskies forming the The Sample Room Collection were released replacing the 21 year old Archive and Glenlivet XXV.
Miltonduff is a Speyside regional distillery that lies south-west of Elgin in Morayshire. The distillery, originally named Milton worked as an illicit farm distillery up until 1824 when Andrew Peary and Robert Bain were granted a licence. Interestingly Miltonduff also produced another whisky from 1967 to 1981 called Mosstowie with the use of a pair Lomond stills that were installed at the time. Current owners Chivas Brothers {Pernod Richard} are investing a huge amount to increase the level of production at the site. Miltonduff’s expansion will be in the form of a brand new sustainable distillery next to the existing one. The single malt is an important part of the renowned Ballantine’s blended whisky and the expansion is intended to aid further growth of this successful brand. Miltonduff whisky is an extremely versatile single malt and a popular choice for blending. Official bottlings of Miltonduff as a single malt are the 15, and 19 year olds.
