“When it comes to creating our Fèis Ìle bottlings, I always strive to create something not only different to our current core range, but a single malt whisky which is unique and unforgettable. And I think we’ve achieved it with Port Charlotte Rock’ndaal 03.2.
"There’s a real element of purity to the spirit. Sweetness and smoke are beautifully balanced, with the flavourful bourbon casks bringing mellow toasted oak while the Sauternes casks add an abundance of fruit. With more time spent in the cask, the presence of Port Charlotte’s signature smoke is subtle yet refined, with a real softness on the palate.
"For me, this 20 year old showcases the very best of our heavily-peated spirit, and it’s possibly my favourite ever expression of Port Charlotte to date.”

Official Tasting Notes
Colour - Bright Amber
Nose - Fragrant ripe stone fruits open on the nose, with unmistakable apricot and peach. Mellow oak, almond and marzipan are wrapped in just a hint of delicate smoke, with milk chocolate, juicy mango and honeydew melon. Crème brulee and malted barley flour complement dried smoked fruit, while a gentle sea breeze follows.
Palate - Incredibly smooth and luxurious in texture, raisins in honey, ripe apple and peach skin come to the fore, with robust leathery oak underpinning the fruity notes. Crème brulee and rich poached pears mingle with Port Charlotte’s signature peat smoke, with crystalised lemon rind providing vibrancy and balance.
Finish - Port Charlotte’s smoke is predominant of the finish as peat fire embers linger, with a sweet hint of dried mango and milk chocolate.
The Bruichladdich distillery was constructed on the isle of Islay off the west coast of Scotland in 1881 by Barnett Harvey. Then in 1886 Bruichladdich Distillery Company Ltd was founded. The site lies to the south west of the island and is one of nine working distilleries there. There have been numerous owners over the years and a time of consistency when Invergordon Distillers took over in 1968. In 1993 Whyte & Mackay bought Invergordon Distillers and the distillery was mothballed in 1995. Bruichladdich was then sold to Murray McDavid in 2000. Since 2001 when production started again the philosophy was to push the boundaries of the norm for whisky making. The distillery has become renowned for its innovation and willingness to experiment. There are three main lines produced, unpeated Bruichladdich, heavily peated Port Charlotte and ultra heavily peated Octomore. Not forgetting the botanist gin also distilled on site. The distillery has been very busy over the past twenty years producing new releases, batches and vintages of these great diverse whiskies.
