A cracking Special Releases 2025 Teaninich from Diageo here. This 8 year old was crafted in 2016 using a ‘rare mash filter’ and bringing together malted rye and barley before aging in ex-bourbon casks. One of just a few Scottish grain whiskies with a rye influence. 

Expect green, herbal and spicy aromas followed by a palate that is beautifully creamy-smooth in texture. The finish is short and sharply spicy with a pinch of dried coconut in the aftertaste. 

We think you will love this whisky for its intensity of flavour after bottling at a natural cask strength of 60.3% abv. An expression to reward the adventurous sipper!

Nose: Green, herbal and spicy nose. Mild in feel with considerable prickle. Faintly sharp top of acid-drop boiled sweets, becoming soft fudge. Green notes develop a more perfumed character in time, suggesting woody cologne.  

Palate: Light and creamy-smooth in texture. Sweet at first in taste, with creamy vanilla, light acidity and a green, herbal side. 

Finish: Short and sharply spicy, with a pinch of dried coconut in the aftertaste.

Teaninich is a Highlands distillery located north of Inverness in the town of Alness. It was founded back in 1817 by Captain Hugh Munro who owned the Teaninich estate. The distillery makes malt for the owner Diageo’s blended whisky such as Johnnie Walker. The official bottling is a 10 year old in the Flora & Fauna series.
