The Glendronach 12 Year Old is the youngest age statement release in the core range. Matured for at least 12 years in Oloroso sherry casks gives it a sweet and creamy taste.
Whisky is all about bringing memories to you. This wonderful dram does that. Glendronach is one of my favourite distilleries and this 12yo expression is worth every penny you pay for it. Bottled at a fine 43%abv, a beautiful chestnut color. On the nose is very appealing, creamy vanilla cookies, cinnamon, sherry, COOKIE DOUGH (it totally reminds me of this, when my mom prepared it to make a lemon pie), prunes, very perfurmed, great aroma: sweet, citric and spicy.
On the palate, it is a wonderful dram. Creamy sensation, like a grain whisky but full of flavor as a malt. A pleasant herbal note, prunes. Mostly cream and vanilla. The after taste is medium long, with clove and cream. Really interesting. I truly recommend this, it is very enjoyable. 86 over 100 is a fair score for it.

Glendronach a Highland region distillery is located near to Forgue in Aberdeenshire and was founded back in 1826 by a consortium. James Allardes was at the time one of the owners. Glendronach has changed hands many times since then and was bought in 2016 by Brown Forman who took over Benriach Distillery Company. Sales of Glendronach whisky have grown in recent times and this trend is expected to carry on hence the current production capacity of two million litres is now being reviewed. In July 2022 a formal application was made to the council to expand. The plan is to house two more stills and increase the production capability to four million litres per year. In 2016 a new master blender was appointed. Dr Rachel Barrie has over 26 years of experience of perfecting here art. The Glendronach core range are characterised by being matured in fine Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso casks giving the whisky a great rich depth and finish.
